Decimals Mental Strategy and Written Strategy

Walt : use a variety of strategies to solve addition problems that involve decimal numbers.

My Reflection:

I was able to convert and fractions and by changing 2.3 to 2.30 and rename the decimal to a fraction and put the numbers in line with each other.

Next time I need to work on drawing two lines after the answer and keep the numbers and decimal points in a strait line.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                

Multiplication Strategies

Walt : use a variety of multiplication strategies to solve problems

I was able to use repeated addition by counting how many groups there were and how many were in each group.  I was also able to use the distributive strategy by using my 1x, 2, 5x, 10, because I was able to split the groups of 7 into groups of 5 and 2.

I get confused using PVP strategy because sometimes I struggle to split the numbers into the place value eg. 15 into a 10 and 5.

Statistics

Walt : display data on histogram, tally chart

Walt : interpret information from histograms and tally marks eg. medium, mode, range, mean

I was able to put the name score information into a histogram and I used tally marks.

I found this a bit difficult so I had some help from my maths buddy Emma.

• The range for first names score was 4 to 20.
• The range last name scores it was 2 to 21.
• The range for full name score 9-31.

Next time I will ask my teacher for help when I need it or my maths buddy because I found some of the working out difficult.

Maths problem

This activity is about solving problems.
I thought this was easy because I work out the question with a partner.
Next time I could try not to work with a partner.

Number Knowledge and Place Value

This activity is about number knowledge and place value test.

I thought this was hard because at the end there are Roman numerals and I had to work out the answer for the roman numerals.

Next time I could learn even more about Roman numerals and use the chart hanging on the wall.

Fractions

This activity is about writing things that help me knowing what fractions mean and the bottem number and top number mean.

I thought that it was easy because the teacher wrote up what we need to write down , so we needed to write all of that in our  maths books.

Next time I could do more learning about fractions

Division Derby

    

This activity is about clicking on the correct answer , it was about division.

I thought it was easy because I have been learning my divisions.

Next time I could try new ways of doing division that are not easy as.

Mathletics

This activity was about solving problems.
I thought it was easy because I did a test that is including  solving problems.
Next time I could do something that is not easy.

I thought it was easy because I learnt how to do multiplication.
Next time I could try new strategy.

Maths Fractions

This activity is about problem solving with fractions.  I thought this activity was easy because my teacher helped me and we were working in our group.
Next time I could try the problems by myself first.

2D and 3D shapes

                                                   I am learning to recognise and describe 2D and 3D shapes.
                                                                                                 
            Reflection:
I found tricky is knowing the names of the 3D shapes are different from the 2D shapes.   I was proud because  I could manage to get through the tricky parts.   Next I will learn more about 3D shapes and learn about describing the shapes..

I am learning to recognise fractions of shapes and sets.
I found it tricky to write the names of the fractions.
I'm proud that I can recognise some of the fractions.
Next I will learn the fractions I don't know at home.
